VOLUNTEER

Volunteer with Depths of Discovery

Help us prepare and deliver an inclusive pilot for young adults aged 18–30. Depths of Discovery is recruiting a trained volunteer team for weekly online sessions, twice-monthly in-person sessions in Hilversum, and essential programme support.

The opportunity

Our operating model has been approved and the pilot is now in volunteer recruitment and readiness preparation. We will begin participant delivery only after the required roles, training, rehearsals and safeguarding arrangements are in place.

Some volunteers may be suitable for more than one function. However, every participant session will have at least two prepared people—a lead facilitator and a support facilitator—with independent safeguarding backup.

Volunteer roles

  • Board Sponsor — provides governance oversight, material decisions and escalation support.
  • Programme Lead — coordinates safe delivery across the online and Hilversum tracks.
  • Lead Facilitator — leads the structured participant journey, online or in Hilversum.
  • Support Facilitator — supports participation, accessibility, group dynamics and follow-up.
  • Participant Liaison — coordinates enquiries, onboarding, reminders, absences and agreed adjustments.
  • Safeguarding Contact — receives concerns and coordinates appropriate, independent escalation.
  • Online Technical Host — manages secure meeting access and practical online support.
  • Data and Evaluation Coordinator — maintains proportionate records, data quality and outcome reporting.

What we look for

  • Reliability, good judgement and respect for participant dignity.
  • Clear professional boundaries and willingness to follow safeguarding and privacy procedures.
  • Relevant experience or transferable skills for the role.
  • Commitment to induction, rehearsal and reflective teamwork.
  • Availability for online delivery, Hilversum delivery, both tracks or a non-session support role.

Training and readiness

Selected volunteers will complete induction appropriate to their role. This covers our mission and programme model, SMART practice, role boundaries, safeguarding, confidentiality and privacy, accessibility, inclusive facilitation, incident response, online meeting safety, session administration and the relevant online or Hilversum rehearsal.

An expression of interest or provisional selection is not a final appointment. A volunteer is assigned to live delivery only after role fit, availability, conflicts, required checks, induction, rehearsal and backup coverage have been considered and recorded.

How to express interest

Use our enquiry form and select “Volunteer expression of interest.” Please include:

  • The role or roles that interest you.
  • Your preferred track: online, Hilversum, both or a non-session role.
  • Your relevant experience or transferable skills.
  • Your general availability.
  • Any reasonable adjustment you need for the recruitment process.

Please do not send medical, financial, criminal-history or other highly sensitive personal information at this first stage.

Privacy approach: We use role titles publicly. Internal volunteer references are pseudonymous codes, while the restricted identity record remains protected personal data. Retired codes are not reassigned.
